Situated in the heart of Sigtuna, one of the most historic places in Sweden offering you an experience in one of the most wonderful cities in Sweden! The SSHL Debate Society is proud to once host the SSHL Open 2019. The tournament will take place the 28-29 September. The debate venue is at SSHL in Sigtuna, Sweden; it is located near Arlanda Airport in Stockholm. The SSHL Open is an international tournament giving the best opportunities to both experienced and novice debaters, who look forward for a weekend filled with fantastic debates.

Trinn Toimetaja
Triin was the President of the University of Tartu Debate club from 2016 to 2018. As an active member of Estonian Debating Society, she has convened around 20 debating competitions in Estonia. In addition, she has been teaching debating in 3 different Schools in Estonia. Currently, she is the head of international cooperation at Estonian Debating Society, studying Security Risk Management at the Copenhagen University and can be often seen giving debate training at CBS debate club in Copenhagen. Triin has over 10 speaking breaks from different regional tournaments such as Helsinki Open 2017, Stockholm Open 2018, Estonian Open 2018, Lund IV 2018, reaching finals at competitions such as FinEst 100, Riga mini 2017 and Nordic Debate Academy, where she was also the best speaker. Triin also has around 15 judging breaks including SSE Riga IV 2016, Estonian Open 2016 and 2017 TUT Open 2016, FINDA-IDEA mini 2017. I chaired the final of Estonian Open 2017 and the semi-final of Estonian High School Championships 2018. She was the DCA of English College Open 2018 and the CA of FINDA Schools Cup 2018.
Johan Allen
Johan is thrilled to be back at SSHL as a member of the CAP, his final Swedish schools tournament as a debater was hosted in Sigtuna. Since losing the final of that Swedish Schools Debating Championships, Johan has also lost the finals of the Riga IV 2018, Stockholm Open 2018 and Stockholm Mini 2017. Furthermore, he has broken at Moscow Open 2018, Leiden Open 2018 and Riga IV 2017. As an adjudicator, Johan was a trainer and finals judge at the 2018 Nordic Debate Academy, judged the outrounds of SSDC 2018 and the finals of Stockholm Novice 2018.
Joona Suhonen
Our next member of the chief adjudication team is Joona Suhonen coming from Helsinki. He has an impressive record both as an adjudicator and a debater and we are delighted to have him join!
Joona has served on chief adjudication teams of numerous tournaments in high school and university circuits. In WSDC format he has been a chief adjudicator of the Finnish High School National Championships in 2018 and of Saint Petersburg Schools Invitationals in 2019. Additionally he has been on the CA teams of around 10 British Parliamentary style tournaments including Maastricht Open and Nordic Debate Academy.
As an adjudicator Joona has chaired the final of FINDA Schools Cup 2018 and judged the finals on English College Open 2016 and Finnish High School National Championships in 2019. In the university circuit he has judged over 20 outrounds including judging the finals of the UCD IV 2018, Lund IV 2018, Budapest Open 2018 and Munich Open 2019.
Joona has a background in university debate and as a debater he is an open grand finalist of the European University Debating Championships 2019 and 7th best ESL speaker at EUDC 2018. He has spoken in numerous finals of other competitions, including those of PEP IV 2019, Lund IV 2017 and FinEst Open 2018, as well as the ESL finals of LSE Open 2017 and Oxford IV 2018.
As a trainer Joona is one of the founders of Finnish National Debating Association FINDA, and has hosted countless debate training days and academies for them around Finland. He has also been a trainer and chief adjudicator at numerous debate academies including Nordic Debate Academy 2018, FINDA BP Mini Debate Academy 2019 and Saint Petersburg Schools Invitationals 2019. Has trained debate at many schools around Finland as well as founded a training program for his former debating society at Aalto university.
